Indigenous Health Subcommittee

What is the NATSIMF project?

The CPMC Australian Indigenous Health Subcommittee (CPMC AIHS) is a Subcommittee created by the CPMC to provide advice in regard to Indigenous health issues.

The Subcommittee has member representatives from each of the 15 specialist medical Colleges operating in Australia plus representatives from the Australian Indigenous Doctors’ Association, the Department of Health and Ageing (DoHA), the National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation, and the Medical Deans Australia and New Zealand.

The Subcommittee generally meets twice a year.

Since the project is primarily about the development of the Indigenous medical workforce by increasing the number of Indigenous medical doctors and specialists, its activities are strongly coordinated and carried out in partnership with the Australian Indigenous Doctors’ Association, which is illustrated through the Subcommittee’s joint chairing arrangement.
